And to be honest with you, meetings can be rather drab and boring, but they have to happen to get your team motivated, to keep them on track, to know where you're at, make sure they're accountable. TIMA Road Map #6: What Questions Should You Be Asking Your Instructors in Their Performance Review?

Phil: In this video, we're going to be talking about performance reviews. Well, what is a performance review? It's a chance for school owners, branch managers, to review their staff's performance and reset, realign the next goals for the following 3 or 6 or 12 months. It's a chance for the employee also to review the employer, and that's what we do. I think it's really important that it shouldn't be a one-way street, this performance review. I really want to know if I'm performing to the best of my ability for my staff and vice versa as well. So I don't just think it's a one-way thing. I'm sitting at the top of my ivory tower shooting down the barrel telling them what they've done wrong and how they can do better. Graham: You know, Alex, it really is a challenge when you put everybody all in the same group, so to give you an idea, to have beginners in with advanced students is a real challenge. So identifying quickly what you're dealing with, and then being able to structure the class around that is key. TIMA Road Map #4: How to Retain Your Students?

There have been particular steps within the process, the magic metrics that we like to follow and hold ourselves accountable to. It's these areas in your business that if they are always check, your check points, then I guarantee you a success with your business. In this particular video, we are going to be talking about retention. I do not know about you, but in our business there are certain drop zones that we know about. If you're checking statistics correctly and regularly, then you're going to know these areas are quite common areas. I don't know what the industries standard is these days but I've heard it was around 11 months, that the average student will stick with you. Well, we have drop zones at about six-month mark yeah probably around the 12-month mark and then later on about a year and a half and sort of brown belt level as well.
